Thanksgiving

Our third Thanksgiving with the Crellins went along just swimmingly. Jenny and I slaving away in the kitchen (and thoroughly enjoying ourselves), Matt and Jason playing football and chasing kids, kids destroying the house, carefree and crazy.

Oh, and the food was amazing.

We even had time to plan our black Friday madness. Somehow Jenny and I ended up spending 1am to 4am in 20 degree snow flurries huddled under a blanket on the sidewalk in front of Target. Contrasted with the smells of blackberry pie, garlic mashed potatoes, whole wheat rolls, herb roasted turkey, and cranberry-orange relish, to name a few, along with the warmth of the oven, it is strange that those hours on the cement were probably my favorite from the weekend. Plus, we got 90 % of our Christmas shopping done in just a few hours. To remind you, this was Flint, Mi--the fourth worst city in the U.S. for crime--and people starting showing up at 3 in the morning with hot chocolate and cookies to give away to strangers standing in line. We were offered hot chocolate at least 3 times by genuine, nice people. A great way to start the holiday season, to be sure.

This was one of my favorite Thanksgivings yet due to the rocking trip to Target. I hope to have many more Thanksgivings with you guys, despite the miles that may be between us.
