The beauty of a backyard

Sprinklers, Fires, and Fireflies.

That white speck behind Alex is a firefly--he's trying to catch them.

Here's what seems to be growing in every yard.

After all this fun, you need to sleep under the bed.

Tour de 'souri

Matt's family came out here a couple weeks ago and we showed them all about life here in the Midwest. They flew into Kansas City and we drove them through the entire northern part of the state and into Iowa and Illinois, so hopefully they got their fill.
But, how could you get enough of this?

The weather was perfect most of the time which may have fooled them into thinking that it is actually mild here. Ha!
Here are the kiddies...

In Nauvoo, Il, they had some stilts and other games that we got to try out.

Matt, Alex, Grandpa, Grandma, and me looking smarter than usual.

Once we got here, we took the fam to check out Matt's second home.

Then we came home to relax a bit and celebrate father's day.

We ate this and watched "Amazing Grace". We also watched "The Bucket List" and "Live Free or Die Hard" while they were here.

We hadn't heard about the flooding the night before, so when we crossed the Mississippi, we saw some of the effects.

Checking out some of the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Grandpa Rich, Aunt Jenny, Alex, Grandma Sallie, Rebekah, Matt, me.

This is just to show you how much fun we had just riding in the car!

And , finally, just some roaming that took place.

Swimming

So I guess we do some fun things. We went to the wading pool at the park and they liked it a lot. We forgot to bring any toys, so they just borrowed some random objects as they floated by. When Alex found a kick board, he climbed out of the pool to show me. I explained what you do with it, "You hold it out in front of you and then kick your feet". So he holds it out and then drop kicks it. I guess I forgot to tell him you do it in the water.

Tidbits

What have we been doing? A whole lot of nothing.

Well, that isn't entirely true. Matt studies his board review book sometimes, and helps me do what I've always done (clean, cook, etc.). We haven't really been out of our house/yard much, though. But here are some clips of our life anyway.

I told Bekah I was opening the door to let some air in. I found her standing there 10 min later saying, "Air, come in! Hi! How are you? Come in, air!"

Matt had to give a talk in church yesterday, so he gives us a rundown of his outline and says, "What do you think?" Alex says, "Don't think."

Bekah casually describing her athletic expertise: "I fell down on my head."

Alex describing his helpfulness: "Mom, I'm not a very good clean-up man."

Matt said his dad thinks he will be the top doctor in his field. Matt told me he thinks he will be top in the field of debt.

Alex asks a lot of questions like, "Why do you have kids?", "Why did you say I'm a good boy?", and "Why is poop brown?".
